Filing An Assumed Name (DBA)
When starting a new business, it is advisable to record your business name with the Register of Deeds Office. Such business names are referred to as assumed names. Our office handles filings for sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations doing business under an assumed name. Meanwhile, the Department of Secretary of State oversees the incorporation of businesses.
The fee for recording an assumed name is $26.00 for the first page up to fifteen pages and $4.00 for each additional page after fifteen. The completed form may be hand-delivered or mailed in for recording.
Below are links to the forms to be used to file with an instruction sheet for each. You will need to print the form and bring it to the Register of Deeds office to be recorded.
